THURSDAY NYC GLOOM FRIDAY STARTS SUNNY STREAK – Good gloomy morning everyone. Northeast winds, low clouds, and well below normal temps remind us that we haven’t fully left this unseasonably strange pattern yet, but relief is on the way in some aspects.

A somewhat weak but slow moving area of low pressure will scoot to the south of us this morning and into the afternoon, giving us the threat of some rain throughout the day. (Most of the energy is going to our north) This will help keep the temperatures a February-like low to mid 40’s for the entire area. The main threat of rain should subside by late afternoon/early evening, then clouds will very slowly break up overnight. Expect lows in the low to mid 30’s with a brisk NW wind, giving a real winter chill to the air.

The sun returns tomorrow, but cool temps and wind remain stubborn. Look for highs only in the low to mid 50’s and that brisk NW wind remains. Same story for tomorrow night, with windy conditions and lows once again in the 30’s, possibly even some 20’s away from the City. On Saturday, we begin our journey towards more normal April weather, with subsiding winds (hopefully), sunny skies, and highs slightly below normal in the mid to upper 50’s.

Sunday looks to be your textbook April day, with highs near 60, sunny skies, and light winds. We remain in the normal realm into the beginning of next week as 60-65 temps remain for Monday and Tuesday, as does the sun.

For mid-week, we begin to watch a low pressure system that wants to ride up the coast to give us a decent round of rain and wind. What remains to be seen is how far up the coast does it get, and how stubborn it is to leave. We’ll keep an eye on it, but as of now this could put a dent in our spring arrival, and we’ll have to wait a few days to experience normal temps again. However, early May is still looking very spring-like as of this moment.
