SPRING SEARCH STARTS AFTER NYC SNOWSTORM CANCELLED – Good morning everyone. Now that we can get past the noise of this weekend’s snow threat, the focus turns towards the search for spring. Where is our NYC spring? April is rarely the typical storybook spring for our area, but we are definitely lacking something around here.

No spring to be found in the immediate future, so I’ll just rip that band-aid off right now and get it over with. Look for the gloom and cool temps to continue today, with clouds and showers hanging around for much of the day after a few wet flakes, a gusty breeze, and highs in the low to mid 50’s. A cold rain will ensue tonight between midnight and sunrise tomorrow, expect lows in the upper 30’s.

With low pressure scooting to our south tomorrow, look for the chance of some early morning cold rain, clouds hanging around, and an unseasonably cold day with low to mid 40’s. The sun will be back on Sunday, with a northwesterly breeze, and highs again well below normal; mid to upper 40’s. Cold air sticks around again for Monday, with sunny skies again and mid 40’s. For early in the week, the system parade continues with the chance of some rain Monday night into Tuesday, upper 40’s to low 50’s and then we clear out for mid week.

Cool air continues to be stubborn and fast moving systems will continue to trek across the Country, giving us the chance of rain every 3-4 days. I do see a “relaxing” taking place mid-month in terms of the real cold stuff easing up a bit, with more prolonged, seasonable temps possible starting the last 1/3rd of April. The real warm stuff is locked down across the immediate Gulf coast and the deep south. Given the “right” path of a frontal system, we could see a taste of spring (albeit brief) here and there as things slowly modify and we climb out of this funk.
