SOLAR ECLIPSE WEATHER FORECAST HEAT THROUGH WEDNESDAY

SOLAR ECLIPSE WEATHER FORECAST HEAT THROUGH WEDNESDAY – Good morning everyone! Sunshine and a nice breeze will make for a beautiful but very warm Sunday as high pressure begins to settle in over the area. We’ll have highs in the upper 80’s today and relatively moderate humidity.

For tomorrow’s solar eclipse, we couldn’t try for much better weather this time of year in terms of cloud cover. We remain in the “mostly sunny” category and although a poorly timed clouds can ruin the peak time of our eclipse, this part of the Country has one of the best shots at seeing it. As you go farther south and west in search for totality, you actually have a chance at more clouds and rain, so your best bet is to stay put and hang around the NYC metro area, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, and points northeast.

Tuesday is shaping up to be one of the hottest and/or one of the most uncomfortable days of our 2017 summer. Heat and humidity will surge ahead of an approaching cold front, giving us southerly winds and temps in the low 90’s. We still have to wait and see the exact timing of this cold front, but it’s looking like our chances of widespread severe weather in the NYC area are diminished due to poor timing.

As of now, the cold front’s approach will happen after sunset Tuesday and fully clear out by Wednesday late morning. Even though we still have a chance of storms in the area, some of which could be severe, the lack of sunlight will rob the boundary of its full potential. We will keep an eye on everything as it unfolds and watch for any action that could develop.

Heat and humidity will be slow to clear out, as we’ll have one more muggy and very warm day on Wednesday; highs in the mid to upper 80’s. Then, we return to near/slightly below normal temps and low humidity for a decent block of days starting on Thursday, to at least near Labor Day Weekend; highs for a 5+ day stretch in the upper 70’s to low 80’s and some crisp nights ahead, especially N&W of NYC and out east on Long Island. Heat and humidity might make another attempt to reach into the area Labor Day weekend or the week following, but we’ll have to wait and see on that prospect.
