SEVERE STORMS UPSTATE NORTHEAST TODAY NYC TOMORROW – Good early afternoon everyone. Strong and severe storms have formed to our north and northwest and racing east into New England. There are a few popcorn storms at the tail end of the line that could make it into areas of NJ, but it’s unlikely they survive the trip here due to the sea breeze. These individual storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and brief heavy downpours.

Tomorrow, a similar round of energy will blow through, but NYC could get into the action as it’ll stretch further south. By late afternoon/tomorrow evening, we’ll be watching the skies and the radar for several lines of severe weather and then a round heavy rain behind it. Tomorrow’s storms in the metro area could produce torrential rain, frequent lightning, hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes.

After the action, we clear out for a very warm day on Sunday, with humidity saying goodbye as the day goes on, with a return to the soup by the end of next week.
