PROLONGED NYC HEAT HUMIDITY BLAST
PROLONGED NYC HEAT HUMIDITY BLAST – Good morning all! Is everyone ready for our first heatwave of the summer in New York City? It starts today very warm and tame, then we quickly turn up the juice.
Sunny skies and northwesterly winds will keep things relatively dry today compared to what’s coming, but we go for the low 90’s today in most areas. Tomorrow, we notch up the humidity a bit and low to mid 90’s start to make things feel more uncomfortable.
For Sunday, it’ll be downright oppressive, with mid to upper 90’s in most areas. We’ll go for that 1964 record of 97, but it remains to be seen if we can break it. Expect it to be hazy and humid along with the hot temps.
As stated a couple of days ago, once we start going past a certain point humidity and dewpoint–wise, we reach a peak on how high temps can go. That’ll be the case for the rest of the week as humidity and dew points become Florida-like, but we “dip” back into the low 90’s Monday.
Low 90’s continue for Tuesday, Fourth of July on Wednesday, Thursday, and even Friday. Then, we begin to look for a brief break POSSIBLY next weekend, but it’s not written in stone yet. What we do know is that the heat tries to return again after this prospected break.
So in essence, expect a full week plus of 90’s in our area, a true, old-school heatwave for New York City and surrounding areas.
