NYC VERY WARM WEATHER PRECEDES WEEKEND TROUGH RETURN – Good morning everyone. We have some energy left behind today until late morning/early afternoon before we completely clear things out, then we await for a return to Florida-Like conditions and a tropical setup as our troughy pattern returns.

We had some rain in areas at or just before sunrise today, but there’s still some leftover juice. So look for the continuing slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm until late morning or early afternoon, then clearing skies and highs near 90. Bright sunshine a very light NW wind will help get us into he upper 80’s to near 90 tomorrow, but it’ll feel more comfortable with relatively less humidity (it’s still summer).

For the weekend, the moisture and mugginess is back. For the start, it’ll be more of an easterly flow as opposed to a southerly one. This will help keep temps down into a muggy low to mid 80’s and the chance of showers and storms at any time during the day. You know the drill as it’ll be hard to pinpoint when, where, and who until we see what develops; but don’t cancel any plans and keep the umbrella handy just in case. Also, for those visiting the beaches or doing some fishing in the bays Saturday-Friday, the light easterly flow = biting flies and no-see-ums. It’s a wise choice to use some bug repellent so you don’t get eaten alive.

Expect Saturday and Sunday to be mostly cloudy, humid, low to mid 80’s, chance of showers and storms. Again, not everyone will see precip and it won’t be an all day thing. This pattern continues into late week next week, then we watch for the gears of fall to start turning. When I say that, I mean our pattern slowly begins to change, with cooler/drier shots of air, but on the flip side a lot of front-related heat. This is also the time of year (late Aug/early Sept) that the NYC/Long Island area has the best chance to see severe thunderstorms, so keep a close eye on the forecast and don’t let one trash your back yard like it did to some of us this week.
