NYC LABOR DAY WEEKEND WEATHER VARIETY – Good morning everyone! Yesterday’s system that gave us late summer Nor’easter-like conditions, is pulling away and out to sea. Today, it’ll leave behind a breezy, sunny, and seasonably cool day, with highs in the mid to upper 70’s, and continuing rough surf and rip currents along our beaches.

Warm air will bubble up tomorrow ahead of a cold front, allowing for temps to recover back into the low 80’s and the chance of a thunderstorm. Warm air will be short-lived though as tomorrow’s cold front will make for an unseasonably cool Friday. It’ll be sunny and breezy, with a late September/early October near 70° day, and a real bite to the air at night with temps in the 40’s in some areas away from NYC on Friday night.

On Saturday, we keep the cool air in the area with low 70’s, but clouds increase as Harvey’s remnants near. Rain will move in overnight Saturday and stay with us until at least late morning/early afternoon Sunday. Highs Sunday will be in the mid 70’s, maybe upper 70’s to near 80 if we can squeeze out some late day sunshine.

Labor Day itself on Monday looks to be the best day of the holiday weekend. Everything clears out and Harvey’s departure will finally allow for some warm air to return. We’ll have sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 80’s. The warm air looks to continue into mid week next week, then another cold front will cool us off a bit in time for the weekend of September 9th.

As said in previous long range forecasts, tropical systems can wreak havoc this time of years in terms of affecting patterns. Warm air continues to look to try and fight back, possibly making for a warm mid-September, but it all hangs on the unknown as far as the tropics.
