NYC July 4th Outlook

NYC July 4th Outlook

06/23/24 7:45am ET

Good morning everyone. Today we do a “special edition” forecast and look into what’s ahead for July 4th throughout the Country using look range weather models. Typically this early in the game, it would be a tough sell as far as accuracy, but we seem to be holding in this steamy pattern and things look rather steady.

While summer is obviously hot in spots across the Lower 48, what’s not common is coast-to-coast heat. Typically if the Midwest to the East Coast, the West Coast is on the cooler side and vice-versa. Not this time around, and it looks as if a double ridge will build, keeping most of the Nation hot and dry (precip-wise, not humidity wise).

We’ll continue to update as we hone in on exact temps, but as of now it looks as if areas of the Northeast are in the low 90’s. Meanwhile, it looks as if the Mid-Atlantic down into the Southeast are in the low to mid 90’s. Take a trip along the Gulf Coast, and you’ll be baking in mid to upper 90’s. If you think that’s not hot enough, much of the Midwest will see upper 90’s to 100-105 degree temps. Death Valley and the Southwest will earn their reputation with 105-110 degree pizza-oven-like conditions as well.

The only cooler spots look like the very edges in Upper New England and the very corner of the Pacific Northwest. As far as precip is concerned, we’ll watch some showers and storms ride the northern fringes of the ridge, and most of that will be in the upper Midwest; plus your typical summer popcorn showers and storms in Florida.

SATELLITE

We have another hot one today with the chance of a PM heavy storm. Look for oppressive humidity, hazy sunshine, and highs 95-100.

WEATHER RADAR

Tomorrow we “cool off” into the upper 80’s and mostly Sunny skies. West winds will dry things out a bit before heat and humidity return on Tuesday.

Tuesday looks hot again with near 90 temps, then we are back in the mid 90’s Wednesday with the chance of a PM heavy storm. Same goes for Thursday, but we dip back into the upper 80’s. Things finally settle down on Friday with low to mid 80’s and much drier conditions, but it is short-lived as 90’s want to return fairly quickly.
