NYC HEAT ADVISORIES CONTINUE STORM CHANCE REMAINS – Good morning everyone. After a wild evening in parts of NYC and Long Island yesterday, we reset the breaker switch and go for another run of heat and storms today. Meanwhile, the weekend remains looking tropical and thundery/showery.

We start the morning off sunny, then clouds will build throughout the day. Look for highs in the low 90’s, then we’ll watch storms pop to our west and wait to see if they drift our way. Just like yesterday (if we get any), storms could produce gusty/damaging winds, localized flooding, and vivid cloud-to-ground lightning.

The slight chance of a storm remains tomorrow morning as the remaining energy clears on out. We’ll be left with sunny skies and a light northwesterly flow; helping us get to near 90 again but with slightly lower humidity. Friday will start off sunny before clouds arrive late as the troughy pattern arrives just in time for the weekend. Expect near 90 temps once again with light westerly winds.

The weekend into midweek next week remains looking tropical, showery, and thundery. Once again, there will be no washouts, but we’ll have the chance of showers and storms at any time during this period; highs a tropical mid 80’s/lows in the 70’s, with juicy air and Florida skies.

For your marine forecast, tomorrow (after the storm threat) and Friday look to be the best days to hit the local reefs and wrecks. 2ft seas and light winds will last long enough for no surprises throughout the day. Seas look fine for Saturday, but the storm chance isn’t worth the risk. Same goes for the rest of this period until the trough clears, so stick to the bays from Saturday onward and stick close to port. Always keep an eye to the sky and an eye on your radar, as storms can pop up suddenly and create locally dangerous conditions.
