MUGGY NYC THURSDAY RAIN POUNDS CENTRAL NORTHEAST PENN

MUGGY NYC THURSDAY RAIN POUNDS CENTRAL NORTHEAST PENN – Good morning everyone. We have a muggy setup here in NYC today. Meanwhile, rain and embedded storms march slowly across Pennsylvania where they don’t need anymore rain.

Look for Florida skies and Florida air today, with a mix of sun, puffy clouds, and some icy cirrus up above. The mugginess will be the story, with highs in the upper 80’s to near 90, making it feel like mid 90’s in spots. Your best chance for relief will be to come to the immediate shore, where a developing seabreeze will help things feel a little bit more comfortable.

Just like last week’s trough, this one will give us inconsistent and scattered areas of rain and storms. What will pound central and northeast Pennsylvania today, will slowly march ENE and head into the area late overnight tonight and early tomorrow morning. Even then, it’ll be in a weakened form and not everyone will see rain. As far as PA is concerned, residents and vacation-goers need to keep an eye out for more localized flash flooding in poor drainage areas and regions near small streams and rivers.

So for us, expect a chance of showers with embedded storms early tomorrow morning; then as energy remains behind, look for clouds to remain in the area with a chance of showers and storms at any point of the day. Highs will be a muggy mid 80’s, but we could go into the upper 80’s if we get some extra sunshine.

On Saturday, we’ll have one more decent shot at some rain as the trough fizzles out over us. Expect showers and storms in the area from very early Saturday morning until late morning/early afternoon. Just as any other day of this troughy pattern, not everyone will see action, so keep your plans and adjust as needed. Highs will be a muggy mid 80’s again, and again we could see those highs punch into the upper 80’s if extra sunshine allows for it.

Sunday begins our pseudo-heatwave, with blazing sun, high humidity, and low 90’s for highs. As of now, Sunday through Tuesday look like the hottest days of this period, with low 90’s (possibly mid 90’s in spots), continuing into Monday, then Tuesday. Wednesday remains questionable if we go for 90/low90’s again, but it’ll be very warm and humid at minimum. It’s possible 90’s return for Thursday and Friday ahead of a cold front; but we’ll take it day to day as looking too far ahead is a difficult task at this moment because cloud cover and precip will be factors.
