JUICY TROPICAL NYC SUNDAY HEAT RETURNS WEDNESDAY – Good morning everyone. We have a juicy, tropical Sunday in store for New York City today. By now you should be used to this troughy pattern that’s been coming in and out of the area all summer; but for those who aren’t familiar with it, not everyone sees rain all at the same time, and sometimes the sun is out in one spot, with major flooding just miles away.

This is the case for the moment, with flash flood warnings for areas out east on Long Island, and mostly sunny skies from Nassau County westward into NYC. Expect this type of weather to continue, with clouds and sun today, highs a muggy low to mid 80’s, and the chance of showers and storms that could pop up at any time. Not everyone will see action, not everyone will see rays of sun. As we’ve seen all summer, the biggest threat with the tropical showers and storms, is localized flooding.

Tomorrow we repeat as we keep a close eye on the radar to see who gets what and when. Highs in the low 80’s and muggy. We go for one more round of troughiness on Tuesday with mid 80’s, then the energy begins to collapse overnight and you know what’s next.

Hot weather returns on Wednesday, with maybe some morning clouds, then full sunshine. Look for highs near 90 and humid. Sunshine, near 90, and humid conditions continue for Thursday, then we increase the juice for Friday; with higher humidity, the chance of a thunderstorm, and highs in the upper 80’s to near 90.

Next weekend looks challenging as of this moment to forecast as we could see an onshore flow try to develop. This could bring temps back down into the mid 80’s, but if that doesn’t happen, we could see a continuation of upper 80’s to near/past 90 temps. Also, there’s the possibility of a vigorous front approaching early week (week of the 20th), which could send temps into the 90’s that Monday, then tumbling sometime Tuesday after a round of heavy storms. That’s all speculation though and we’ll update as time goes on.
