IRMA AFTERNOON UPDATE SEPTEMBER SIXTH – Good afternoon everyone. Afternoon model runs continue to paint a rough picture for Florida and the Southeast.

Winds continue to clock in at 185mph and gusts to 225mph, and she’s chugging along at 16mph to the WNW. Models continue to take Hurricane Irma either up the I95 corridor of south Florida, or just offshore. Unless there are major changes, this 20-50mile difference would be the tightrope walk between incurring light to moderate damage, or incurring catastrophic damage along a big, highly populated swath.

Regardless of which path it takes, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina need to stay alert and not take their eye off of Irma.

At this point, we all know what needs to be done if you live in the areas. Over the course of the next 2 days, I’m going to begin to focus on Florida and what to expect locally in that area unless the path drastically changes. Step by step, we will follow Irma, update watches/warnings, and let everyone know how each area will be affected.
