HARVEY DECIDES LABOR DAY WEEKENDS FATE – Good morning everyone! Everything forecasted this week remains on schedule. Cooler and drier air will lag behind the passage of this front, giving us one more warm day today in the mid 80’s, along with some sun and clouds.
Tomorrow we break the humidity, fully clear out the skies, and lower the temps down to the upper 70’s and low 80’s. After that, we get a taste of early September, with a decent sized block of temps in the upper 70’s to near 80 till the end of August.
Several days ago, I spoke of heat building back into the Midwest and we have to keep a lookout as far as where it decides to go; possibly giving us a very warm Labor Day Weekend. The signs are starting to unfold and I think it all comes down to the final path and speed of Harvey’s remnants.
As of now, Brownsville to Houston, TX and parts of Lousiana through the Mississippi Valley really need to keep a close eye on Harvey. The primary threat will be tornadoes with the landfalling tropical system, as well as historic rains that will cause major, life threatening flooding.
If Harvey’s remnants make a relatively quick exit off of the Mid-Atlantic, it’ll open the door to some Labor Day Weekend heat for that Sunday through mid week early September. Highs could reach the mid to upper 80’s, possibly making another run at 90. If Harvey takes its time and hangs out, goes over the area, or to our west, that could change the pattern and we’ll have to rethink what the heat will do.
